Hailed by New York Times as one of the best live acts in Ozzfest 2007 and named 2nd Best Band in Terrorizer magazine's 2009 reader poll (after Behemoth), Chthonic (pronunced "THON-ick") is a legend born right out of the soil of Taiwan. Formed in the mid 90s, Chthonic incorporated the sorrowful Chinese Erhu and dark tales of Taiwanese folklore and mythical battles into extreme metal music, converting international fans from around the globe with their unique ferocity.
